PORTRAIT PHILOSOPHY

My photography philosophy is fairly simple. I want to make you comfortable while capturing quality images. I always opt for quality over quantity. My approach is photojournalistic , opting for quality out of what I observe; I believe the best photos are sometimes hidden in the  "in-between shots"  I believe that posing is not required but sometimes ideal to ensure that everyone is presented in the best possible way. Who doesn't want a little help to look their best in a photograph? I will help direct you in ways that will enhance your assets and play down the things you may be self conscious of.

What makes a great image anyhow? This is a excellent question to ask a photographer to get a feel for his or her style. I believe a good image is one that captures your attention and conveys an emotion. The joy of new life,  the love of a family, the tenderness of a first kiss. This is what I seek. Photographs are a small way to freeze our busy lives and preserve who we are this moment to reflect on it tomorrow. Five, ten, or even twenty years from now, when you look back on your images,  I want you to remember what you felt in that moment and who you were. The perfect picture isn't always the "head up, shoulders back , smile at the camera" type of shot. Sometimes a perfect photograph is capturing a loving glance at each other, a baby's giggle or elduing joy.  I look for the moments in between in hopes of capturing the REAL you. Tiny moments of genuine emotion woven together into a story is always my goal, be it new life, a health journey, accomplishment or a family session.
